The short version

Who we are

AdmitGPS ("we", "us") is a college-planning app for high-school students, available at this website and as an installable app. AdmitGPS is currently operated by its founder; we'll update this page with our company's legal name once it is formed. Questions or requests: smbeagle2525@gmail.com.

Age requirement

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account, and signing up confirms that you are. If we learn that we have collected information from a child under 13, we delete it. If you're a parent and think your child under 13 has used AdmitGPS, email us and we'll delete their information.

If you're 13 to 17, please review this policy with a parent or guardian. Parents and guardians can contact us to review or delete their teen's information.

What we collect

InformationWhy we use it
Your profile answers: grade, GPA, test scores, course rigor, activities, intended majors, location and size preferences, budget and family income rangeTo match you with colleges, estimate your chances and net price, and personalize your counselor and DreamFit plans. Your income range is used only to show what families like yours actually paid; it is never shared.
What you save in the app: saved colleges, dream colleges, application tracker, action plans and counselor chatsSo you can keep working on your list and pick up where you left off.
Account information: your email address. If you sign in with Google, Google also shares your name and profile picture with our sign-in provider. To sign you in and keep your work saved across devices. We use only your email address.
Plan and payment status: whether you have Plus, monthly or yearly, renewal dateTo give you the features you paid for. Card details go straight to Stripe, our payment processor. We never see or store your card number.
Invites: your invite code, and who invited whomTo give free Plus months for invites.
Feedback you send: your ratings and comments, plus your email only if you choose to include itTo improve the app and reply to you.
Technical information: IP address, browser type, pages visited, error logs, and a daily count of counselor messagesTo keep the service secure and working, prevent abuse, and understand overall usage. Our analytics count visits in aggregate and don't use cookies.

If you use AdmitGPS without signing in, your answers stay in your browser on that device and aren't sent to us, except when you use features that need our servers (like the counselor, which requires an account).

Your AI counselor

The counselor, DreamFit action plans and voice replies are generated by artificial intelligence. They are not written by a human counselor and can be wrong. When you use them, your messages and your profile are sent to our AI provider, Anthropic, to write each reply. Under its commercial terms, Anthropic doesn't use this information to train its models and keeps it only for a limited time for safety and legal purposes.

When you speak to the counselor, your browser's built-in speech recognition turns your voice into text. Depending on your browser, the audio may be processed by your browser's maker (such as Google, Apple or Microsoft) under its own privacy policy. We don't receive or store audio.

Please don't share sensitive personal details in chats, such as your home address, phone number, passwords, or health or financial account information.

How we share information

We don't sell your personal information, we don't share it for targeted or cross-site advertising, and we don't use it to build profiles for any purpose other than running AdmitGPS. We share information only with service providers that help us run the app, under contracts that limit how they can use it:

We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect someone's safety, or as part of a merger or sale of the business, in which case this policy would continue to protect your information.

The share card is created on your device, and you decide where to post it. Only what's on the card is shared.

How long we keep it

Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live (for example California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia or another U.S. state with a privacy law), you may have rights to know, access, correct, delete and port your personal information, and to opt out of its sale, sharing for targeted advertising, or profiling. We give these rights to every user, wherever you live. We don't sell or share personal information for advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of, and we honor Global Privacy Control signals.

Students' information

AdmitGPS is used by students and families directly. We don't use students' information for targeted advertising, we don't sell it, and we use it only to provide and improve AdmitGPS.

Security

Information is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). Your saved data is stored in a database that only our server can access; your browser never gets direct database access. No system is perfectly secure, so if we ever learn of a breach affecting your information, we'll notify you as the law requires.

Where your data is processed

AdmitGPS and its service providers process information in the United States. If you use AdmitGPS from outside the U.S., your information will be transferred to the U.S.

Changes to this policy

If we make important changes, we'll update the date above and let you know in the app or by email before the changes take effect.
